Labadi trotro route, Accra, Ghana.

Labadi, Accra, Ghana. This picture shows the south section of the 37 Military hospital La Palm road that passes through Palm Wine junction at Labadi. This trotro route branches out at Trade Fair to Tse Addo, Maami and T Junction. Its one of the recently upgraded urban highways in Accra to ease traffic and provide speedy interconnections between busy neighborhoods. This trotro route makes an ideal choice for passengers transiting from Legon to Teshie and Nungua or from Labadi Wireless to Osu. Accra High Street trotro route to slow down

The Accra High Street trotro route that links Osu and Labadi to Chokor, Dansoman and Tema Station will experience a slight a interruption today because of a high profile judicial hearing at the Supreme Court of Ghana. The Courts are located alongside this major commercial street. As spectators aggregate around the complex, there will be a slowdown in traffic movement on the section from the New Court Complex to Stanchart Bank. The jam should ease around 5 am when the court sitting would have been over. Trotro vehicles making East East movements are likely to circumvent the Courts and bypass the Customs Headquarters to arrive at Tema station or move on to inner city suburbs like Arena or Opera square.

Abeka Lapaz Accra trotro route modernized

The Lapaz Accra trotro route has been modernized to allow more traffic and speed up transit times.  Vehicles from Alajo, Tesano and Avenor no longer wind the underside to reach Adabraka and Accra railways onwards to post office. From the old Orion Cinema, trotro buses will ascend the fly over [North] and descend at the GCB Towers [South], thus avoiding  meandering through traffic from Kanda [East]. In this photo, the North South section of the new Overhead bridge at Nkrumah circle can be seen. The red net in the foreground has been mounted to protect freshly grown green grass under the bridge.  Its been considered that vicinity of roads in Accra look too concrete so the engineers have decided to make the pavement and precincts more organic.

New trotro route from Kanda to Kaneshie

This photo shows the new trotro route on the Ring Road. Here, we can see the eastern section of the new bridge which is yet to be opened to the public. Accra trotro buses moving from Kanda to Kanehsie will no longer circle the Kwame Nkrumah roundabout but rather fly over and descend at New Times Corporation junction when the new Kwame Nkrumah interchange is completed.

Offices of the GPRTU – regulators of trotro transport

The Offices of the GPRTU in Accra, Ghana. The GPRTU is one of the associations that oversee the operations of trotro operations. They fix charges, determine routes and provide trotro boarding bays in conjunction with the local authority. This picture shows the Greater Accra regional offices located at Kinbu, in the Central Business District of the City. The dark green tree behind the cream building is a whistling pine and the white high rise in the background is the Octagon, a multipurpose tower that holds offices and residential apartments, and has the only roof top helipad in the city.

Accra trotro bus with unusual flat tyre

An Accra trotro bus was spotted grounded on the Ring Road Central. The bus had both right tyres flattened out in what looked like a rare puncture or loose tyre. This dual carriage links the Eastern section of the city to the west and is therefore extremely busy. This bus was seen in this state around 6.40 am, suggesting that a heavy traffic will build up as the morning rolls on. The storey building with red and grey accents is the Societe Generale head office near the ATTC, Bus Stop restaurant, Busy Internet or Paloma hotel. Commuters to Kaneshie, Labadi, Kanda and Osu may experience delays unless its towed away quickly.

Accra Railways Adabraka Circle trotro route closed

The Accra Railways Circle trotro route that passes through Tudu, Poly Junction, IPMC, Niagara Hotel has been closed to traffic so Fire Engines can extinguish fire that erupted at a local restaurant known as chop bar in Ghana. A gas cylinder apparently exploded in a stall which had fire nearby and set the building and adjoining ones in flames.  A laptop and consumer electronics shops close by was the most affected. Accra Circle trotro drivers took a detour through the Roxy Lane and NCR streets to make their way to Circle or New Town.

Building commences at Kwame Nkrumah Circle trotro station

The Accra Kwame Nkrumah Kaneshie trotro station has changed for good. This morning, construction crew were busily seen erecting buildings at the section of the station that used to be the boarding bay for Circle - Kaneshie - Awoshie buses.  According to the new Kwame Nkrumah circle interchange plan, various amenities like day care centers, police stations,  clinics shops and other social infrastructure will be constructed in the area to serve motorists, traders and passengers. The government has a new policy of ensuring that any large scale construction does not deprive residents of any existing facilities, and where non-existent, new ones would have to be built. Accra Circle Obra spot permanently evacuated

The Accra Circle Obra spot trotro station has been permanent evacuated.  Development works have begun at the location that became the iconic grounds for victory rallies, processions, demonstrations and a vibrant night life. By yesterday morning, excavation works had begun in what seems to be preparation for the construction of structures. Obra Spot, a 200 meters plot of open land, served as  a trotro station for commuters traveling to the Eastern section of the City of Accra [Labadi, Tema, Osu,  Madina, Legon etc] , a night club and a transit point for travelers. Tse Addo trotro route asphalted and modernised

The Tse Addo trotro route has been asphalted and fitted with overhead solar traffic lights.  Tse Addo is the community behind the Trade fair at La. This neighborhood has the Zenith University College and the La Dadekotopon Local Council.  It also serves a large number of residents and offices. Since the creation of the vicinity, the road that led to it had always been bad - muddy, rugged, unmotorable. The streets that lead up to the place have been recently conditioned by the government. Now trotro buses that stopped plying the route have assumed service. You can obtain a trotro to Tse Addo from Circle, 37, Kanshie, Osu and High Street.

Nima Maamobi trotro station at Circle relocated

The Maamobi trotro station at Kwame Nkrumah Circle has been relocated to the Ring Road to allow for asphalting of the road in front of the terminal. Passengers will therefore alight and board from about 50 meters to the west of the original trotro station.

Bus gets stuck on Kaneshie Kanda trotro route

A bus got stuck on the Kaneshie Kanda trotro route this morning. The bus was headed towards the King Tackie Overpass when it sank into mud under the Kwame Nkrumah Circle Interchange. The roads beneath the clover leaf are been constructed so there was a lot of excavation and fresh sand filing. It rained yesterday so the ground had become soft as it had no asphalt or concrete coating. The incident posed no harm or danger but converted the Kaneshie Lapaz Osu trotro route into a one way lane, thus delaying traffic.
