A Circle to Kaneshie trotro bus parks at a terminal under construction. This Willowbrook Space Car made from resin material ( the body is not manufactured from metal) trotro bus has been in service since 1975 when they used to belong to a transport company called King of Kings headquartered at Odorkor. It is an engineering puzzle how these vehicles, which have been out of production for decades, continue to ferry passengers smoothly without rest.

This white Mercedes Sprinter trotro bus just took off from the Danquah circle trotro bus stop near Osu. Popular for its V6 3 liter engine, this bus provides a  speedy trips for drivers and spacious cabin for commuters. The downside is, it takes a longer time to full up.

This trotro bus is making it gradually to the nearest vulcanizer after incurring a flat tire at Atico junction, in the west of Accra. The bus was returning from Odokor a suburb near Mallam when it had this hilarious flat tire. Vulcanisers are easy to find along the trotro routes of Accra so this driver will not need to go far.

Trotro buses park at a bus stop across the high courts on the High Street Accra. They are boarding to Osu, Labadi, Tema and Nungua. Passenger from Arena, Post Office, Tema station and Jamestown aggregate at this point to transit to the east of Accra.

This Tata trotro bus is alighting passengers at the Melcom trotro bus stop at Opera Square, Accra.  The bus is arriving from Odokor, travelling trough Kaneshie, Abossey Okai, Jamestown, and the post office. The bus seats about 50 passengers and roomy compared to its mini bus counterparts. It has exit and entrance so easy to disembark. But it takes time to fill up and is slow on the way. It may have been in service since 1980 but very roadworthy and .comfortable. Due to its large size, it has 2 conductors - one helps passengers with boarding and alighting, the other collects the fare.

This bus began its journey from the Kwame Nkrumah Circle in the north west of Accra, passed through Paloma, Mobil, GBC and Sankara. The 2007 Toyota Hiace trotro bus is driving straight across the Fire service intersection to reach the UN offices and continue past Nyaniba estates to Labadi.

This Mercedes Sprinter trotro bus is heading towards Sankara Circle where it will either head straight to Labadi or turn left to Madina.  The size of the bus indicates its destination; the smaller it is, the shorter the destination. This picture was taken at Nima junction, close to Asylum Down.

The side door of a 2007 Toyota HiAce trotro bus is is opened in anticipation of boarding passengers.  This bus is parked at the Swanmill bus stop in Central Accra, Ghana. Trotro buses are occupied from front to back. The seats near the doors fill up before the rear ones because passengers do not want to inconvenience others when alighting.  Trotro buses in Ghana do not have aisles. To disembark, others would have to make way by getting down or make way.

Trotro buses park on the Labadi Road. Commencing service as early as 4am, the drivers of the busses and their conductors are fairly exhausted by noon. They therefore look for shady spots and take a break. The best times are around noon when commuter traffic is parse.

A white Mercedes Sprinter trotro bus comes to a stop at the Nima junction on the Ring Road central. The Ring Road Central is an important hub in the Accra trotro transportation system. It links the eastern section of the city to the west and south. Vehicles from Nungua, Teshie and Labadi rely on this road to reach Kanda, Circle, Kaneshie, Odorkor, Mallam and Abossey Okai.
