Ghana trotro refers to the converted mini buses that ferry passengers in the city. They are usually vans with cut out windows. Ghana trotro provides transportation for about 70% of city dwellers.
The Accra Independence Square trotro route flows from the High Street through the Stadium to Tema. The route passes through the Ministries, the Banks and the Osu Community. The road is sparse in the mornings an evenings but dense in the afternoons because many commuters travel that way to transect businesses in the main district.
