Accra trotro fares goes up by 13% in June 2021

June 2, 2021. Accra trotro fares have been increased by 13%. Transport operators claim the increment long overdue and will help mitigate rising cost of fuel and vehicle maintenance. This upward review will mark the first adjustment in 2021.

Trotro fare increases have been routinely managed by stakeholders – private transport operators and the government but in recent years such compromises have not been forthcoming due to what is widely suggested as attempts by government to avoid criticisms of hardships arising from such increases.

Over the months, some operators have unilaterally increased Accra trotro fares to compensate for losses but this announcement marks the first official declaration in 2021.

The new 2021 trotro fares mean Circle to Accra will now cost 2.30 GHS and Circle to Abeka Lapaz will be 3.30 GHS.
