Trotro transport operators in Accra have increased their fares by 15%. The increment is meant to offset continued cost of operation by the vehicle owners. Long foreseen, the new prices from the Unions were implemented in consultation with the government over a three month negotiation process. An initial proposal of 30% from the trotro Unions was whittle down to 15%. The new trotro fares take effect from the 28th of February though the announced reached the public two days earlier.
