La Abormi Palm Wine trotro route blocked

Bus blocks Palm Wine trotro route. This afternoon, the La Abormi to Palm Wine junction road was blocked by a bus which ran aditch into the right side walk. The bus approaching from Wireless veered into the right pavement, sinking the right front tire into the drain. The vehicle has the rear blocking the road thus turning the two lanes into one.  The Police and residents helped control traffic as they awaited a crane to lift the tire back onto the road. Until, the bus clears the road, Accra trotro commuters traveling along the Abormi and Trade fair streets my experience some delays. The photo is hazy due to severe harmattan along the coast.

Kwame Nkrumah interchange trotro station evacuated

The Kwame Nkrumah interchange trotro station at Circle has been evacuated.  The trotro station is located directly in the path of the new interchange and will therefore need to be situated elsewhere to enable work to progress on the new development. Early this week, graders and bulldozers leveled the plot of land that has come to symbolize the hub of cheap transport in Accra. The trotro drivers and their unions have long been consulted and briefed on the need to pave way for ongoing works and are thus aware that the land they occupy will be forfeited. The drivers have therefore now created improvised trotro stations along the roads that adjoin the original station. Asphalt markings on Accra Labone trotro route

The Labone trotro route to Labadi is being marked after asphalt laying over the past days. The right lane from Danquah second stop is usually closed to traffic from 10 PM. Trotro passengers tripping from Circle to Labadi and stopping alongway, will therefore have to alight at Danquah first stop, opposite the western entrance of the Police Hospital, and walk right towards Labone or alight mid way and cross right. From Danquah first , the trotro will make a detour to the left and and will therefore not stop at Danquah second stop, Bridge or Labone junction bus stop. Some photos from the scene.

Accra Circle Fraga trotro station road reopens

The Accra Nkrumah circle Fraga trotro station road reopens. The road has now been raised and layered with sand  to pave the way for asphalting.  So now passengers transiting to Lapaz and Kaneshie via Circle can alight under the  old overhead bridge and continue their journey. Severe harmattan at Accra railways trotro station

Trotro stations in Accra have not been spared the fog of the harmattan. We bring you pictures from the Accra railways trotro station where as late as 7 am, the atmosphere was as frosty as a refrigerator glass. The harmatan is a seasonal foggy weather condition that lasts from December to February. Its very dry and humid. Visibility is poor during early mornings and late evenings.  So you can observe that some of the trotro buses have their headlamps on even after day break.

Nkrumah circle trotro station road closes

The Kwame Nkrumah circle trotro station close to Fraga oil filling station has been closed temporarily. The closure is to enable the Interchange contractors,  Queiroz Galvão,  prepare the lane for asphalting. The trotro station lies to the north of Obra spot and adjoins the Maamobi trotro station.  It serves as a hub for passengers transiting to Lapaz and northern neighborhoods of Accra. So trotro buses from Nima, Labadi and Osu will now stop in front of the old overhead bridge and either return to their terminals of origin or take the left turn to the old circle roundabout to continue to Kaneshie or Lapaz.
