The capital city of Accra has been demarcated into a Metropolitan, Municipalities and District administrative units. Here are the names, history and location of all of them.
Ablekuma North
Through an election system known as “first past the post,” one Member of Parliament is chosen.
Ablekuma West
Through an election system known as “first past the post,” one Member of Parliament is chosen.
Ayawaso East
The municipality’s capital town is Nima, and it is situated in the middle of the Region.
Weija Gbawe
Weija Gbawe Municipal.
Ga South
In 2004, it was originally a component of the bigger Ga West.
Okaikwei North
The municipality’s capital town is Abeka,
Ledzokuku
On November 1, 2017, the Ledzokuku Civil Gathering was established by Administrative Instrument. Ten of the 26 recently built up gatherings, counting the Ledzokuku Metropolitan Get together, were built up in the More prominent Accra region. The Inlet of Guinea borders the Gathering on the south; Krowor Civil Gathering borders it on the east; and Adentan and Ayawaso West Metropolitan Gatherings border it on the north. Furthermore, La Dade-Kotopon Civil Gathering shapes its western boundary.
Ga East
It was once a part of the bigger Ga in the capital of Ghana, which existed at the time. In 1988, the eastern portion was divided off to become Ga East, and the remaining portion was renamed Ga West.
La-Nkwantanang-Madina
La Nkwantanang Madina Municipal Assembly was separated from the Municipality of Ga East. Its capital, Madina, is a thriving neighborhood with a mix of residential and commercial areas. The Oyarifa and Madina Zonal Councils are the two substructures that the Assembly uses to deliver decentralization to the lowest level. There are thirteen assembly members, four of whom are government appointees, and it encompasses nine electoral areas.
Ayawaso Central
The Municipality’s capital town is Kokomlemle,
La-Dade-Kotopon
La Dade Kotopon Municipal capital town is La, and it is located in the middle of the region.
Krowor
Nungua serves as the capital of the Krowor Municipal Assembly, which was formed in 2017 as a result of the division of the Ledzokuku-Krowor Municipal Assembly. Like all other Assemblies, the Krowor Municipal Assembly was founded in compliance with Legislative Instrument 2318 of 2017 and the Local Government Act, 1993 (Act 462). To encourage decentralization and grassroots growth, the administration whittled down the size of the larger Metropolitan, Municipal, and Assemblies to a manageable proportion.
Korle-Klottey
Korle Klottey Municipal Assembly is one of 29.
Ga West
In 1988, the eastern portion was divided off to become Ga East of the capital of Ghana, and the remaining portion was renamed Ga West . Later, on February 29, 2008, the western portion was divided to become the first Ga South Municipal. Amasaman serves as the municipality’s capital town.

Ga North
Ga North Municipal is one of the twenty-nine. Ofankor serves as the municipality’s capital town. It is situated in the western section of the Greater Accra Region.
Ayawaso West
Ayawaso is a vast residential and business area that is home to several foreign embassies as well as the eye-catching 2008 presidential palace, Flagstaff House. Close to Kotoka International Airport are a number of hotels, retail centers, and international and regional dining establishments. To the north sits the University of Ghana. The peaceful Legon Botanical Gardens is close by and offers canoeing, ropes courses, and a canopy walk.
Adenta
Before two of the portions were divided off to form Adenta Municipal and Ashaiman Municipal , respectively, on February 29, 2008, it was included in the jurisdiction of Tema Municipal. The remaining portion was then given metropolitan assembly status, becoming Tema Metropolitan, on the same day.
Accra
Established under the Local Government Act of 1993 and Legislative Instrument 1615. The municipal authority is the Metropolitan Chief Executive, who also serves as the mayor of the City of Accra.
Ga Central
It was once a component of the larger Ga South Municipal, which was established on February 29, 2008. The municipality’s capital town is Sowutuom,
Ablekuma Central
By a LI 2376, the Ablekuma Central Municipal Assembly was founded on February 19, 2019. The Accra Metropolitan Assembly which is located in the city was divided into the Assembly. As a result, the Assembly began implementing initiatives within its purview in March 2019. Home to the Ablekuma Central Municipal.
